Apple iPod Pass-through Charging Cable

I've just purchased an Ipod Camera Connector and I've noticed that as expected when using the ipod battery really drains away from all the constant hard disk activity, has anyone ever seen a charger/usb cable with a pass-through connector to allow you to use the dock for other purposes simultaneously. I have managed to find a battery pack made by a company called Nyko (http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=41) that supports this but have been unable to locate a charger.

 

Nothing I'm aware of. However if you're in a situation where you have access to a charger, surely you could grab a laptop or something and transfer the files from the camera to that instead. Should be a bit quicker and not ravage your battery.

Instinct tells me that it's not safe to have one if it's even possible.

 

belkin do a dock with a 4 port usb hub.
Ive only seen female connectors on ipod docs so i dont know about a passthrough cable.

Thanks for the suggestions but Im trying to be more portable for my holiday this year so and a laptop isn't really budgetable right now, I'll try posting in the other forums and see if I can find anything suitable else I might just stump for the battery pack, I managed to transfer 60 odd pictures on a half full battery, granted they were 6mp JPEG images.

 

Be cheaper and easier to buy a bigger card for your camera wouldn't it?

 

It recharges just like the iPod does of the usb.

 

I would buy a dock connector and experiment, just check if the ipod will charge when transferring files.
