I got a 15gb 3G IPod a few weeks ago and I've recently bought a wired Apple remote to go along with it.

However when I plug the remote in to the ipod I can hear the music fine through my headphones but none of the remote buttons do anything .

I've tried every combination of hold slider on both the remote and the ipod itself but this hasn't sorted the problem. Does anyone have any idea why this happens?

Hmmm strange problem you have there. Did you buy it new? Because I didn't knew they still offered a 15GB solution?

It could be that the remote connector in your iPod is broken.

The Ipod was 2nd hand. I'm thinking it's either a dodgy remote connector or a dodgy remote.

It seems more likely that there is a problem with the iPod as it's second-hand, although there have been problems with the remote. My friend recieved his remote and it was a little worn; Apple sent him another one, no questions asked.

Dont mean to imply that you havent checked this, but on the side theres a hold switch, took me ages to work that out lol!

Or check theres nothing in the connectors of the report port bit, if not hmm take it down to a apple store

Again, I would suggest getting the remote replaced first, and if that doesn't fix it...well, I doubt the warranty is still valid. It's not a real big deal though, I'm not sure it's worth trying to get a refund for
