If you have a first, second, or third generation iPod that has had battery failure (charge of 4 hours or less), you can possibly get it replaced or get a $50 credit to the Apple store. There are lots of details in the article, and you can find more info on the claim here.

It doesn't look like you need to send your iPod in unless you want it replace. You just need the serial and proof of purchase for $50 credit. :naughty:

    Replacement?

    Replacement battery? Or replacement iPod?
I don't think they are going to give you 50$ store credit, when u don't send in your iPod... Or will they?? I could use the 50$ credit, lol.

I'll test my iPod for the 4 hours playback this week.
I think I have it for a little over 18 months now.

From reading the article and the claim form it seems that you just fill in the form, and send it in. If you want to get the iPod fixed or replaced, they will ask you to send it in later if they accept the claim. Otherwise you can check a box to get a $50 credit and keep your iPod. All that's needed is the serail number and proof of purchase (receipt).

    Hi,

Well thats seems like a super deal. But what if I do this.. and suddenly they ask me to bring in my iPod?? Then I will have sold my beloved friend for a louzy 50$...

Too big of a risk to me! I will however check if my battery will hold out a full 4 hours. If it dosn't I will ask for a replacement.

Well you mail in the claim, you don't have to bring it anywhere. If you only check the box for the $50 claim, they say you won't need to send your iPod anywhere, if they ask you to send your iPod in, just ignore it and drop the claim.

Anyways, I think this is only a US thing, as the class action suit was in a California court.

All of a sudden, my Apple IPOD is kind of "struggling" to get to the next song in the playlist and it's 2 months old. Geez

You've obviously got a defective unit - My 3G iPod is still going strong nearly 2 years after I bought it, on the same battery.

If it's only two months old, get it replaced under warranty.
