I'm not a boy, ergo not a fanboy. The simple fact from my stance is my 24" IPS monitor at home gives me a far superior viewing experience than my 24" TN monitor at work. OP if you weren't so hostile in your opening post people might respond to you better, unless you're really AMDy in which case we know you can't play nice
It's been designed for pro gamers and that's what it will be used in but the simple facts most pro gamers play on super low settings for max fps depending on game type. The dell stuff is plenty good for 99% of people out there including me though.
I certainly won't be buying that, but if it has a general affect on prices of 120hz+ TN panels then it may make me finally switch my U27
Having had a quick use of a 120Hz panel in the past, for me personally, 1440p 60Hz IPS > > > 120Hz TN - the extra detail afforded by the extra pixels is a beautiful thing and the better colours of IPS only enhance the experience. Admittedly I'm not a super l33t g4mer...
That's the thing, so few of us are hardcore gamers in reality. If I made a living out of twitch gaming then I'd probably be much more interested in ultra fast monitors, but as it stands I'm happy taking in the sights and sounds in beautiful, inky-rich colours. That said, I'd love the standard refresh rate for all IPS monitors to be 120Hz, tearing would be a thing of the past.
I have a Samsung TN panel monitor, I'm happy with it and its fine for what I need it for but I won't lie, I wish I'd spent the extra and bought a Dell IPS.
the pro gamer argument keeps confusing me, in the sense that with IPS I have more shades of "black" and therefore play better in low light conditions then when I use TN. TO be fair I do not own a super expensive TN panel just a U2711 and some standard TN panels. (like in my laptop and 27"tn screen). So to people who prefer TN for gaming and have tried on ISP since most FPS have a lot ( over 60%) of areas/scenes in dark light setting how does the speed compensate for the pitch black view? Or is the color rendition about the same with a high end TN?
Never used a IPS panel myself and to be honest I have never really used anything with a higher refresh rate than 75hz, although I don't remember what the refresh rate was back on the old CRT monitors that I used. To me input lag is a key factor for me when buying a new monitor. I honestly don't get what the issue is with TN panels compared to IPS panels other than the whole colour argument, which I thought the whole reason for the enhanced colours on the IPS panels was for professional video and photo editors, so that they can get the colours spot on. The colours look fine to me on the TN panel that I am sat in front of at the moment which is a AOC E2795Vh, I don't really suffer from the colours washing out etc but I have noticed when going to some peoples monitors which are cheaper TN panels, there has been quite abit of input lag.
