Hi guys, didn't think this question fit anywhere else, so here it is: Can I buy a filter which will remove visible light and allow IR light through? I'm thinking that it will be difficult since visible and IR light are juxtaposed in the spectrum.
Yes, you can get them. It is actually quite easy as Infra Red is crammed at the bottom of the frequency spectrum, so you just effectively need a low pass filter. The eye will filter out the rest of the non visible wavelengths. They are the same filters often used on remote controls to hide the leds inside They appear to be a very dark purple when you shine light through them. Look anywhere that sells I/R project kits (Maplin etc) --------------------- Edit: I assume this the sort of thing you are after? http://www.instrumentplastics.co.uk/products_irf.php .
Or he wants to build an xray camera...LOL They might have a suitable filter here... http://www.irfilters.com/
That is the most pervy thing I have ever seen. Lol @ the picture of the guy who says "I can see through things!"
i think you can make one on the cheap, you take expose some film and then get it developed, or something like that edit: i found the guide that you might want, it's old but they use the film IR filter thing http://dolphinhome.net/proj_1.html
I did see something a while back about using several layers of blue and primary red filters (ebay link)together to create a bandpass filter, as some brands/colours let IR through even when they block visible light. Found it - here - H.
the exposed film sounds perfect! And, now I think about it, I may have known about that before. thanks all.
