Hey, a lot of people have wanted a learning remote sensor for your PC, and since play.com were selling some nice PS2 remotes (lotsa buttons) for only £2.99 with delivery (see bargin forum) I thought i'd share. However, i had in my bits box, a sharp modulated decoder (aimed at 38khz) but i understand this isn't for everyone, as they cost the best part of £3 and are hard to get hold of. Everything else is standard parts u could get from maplin/radioshack (well a PIC 12 series!) So should i bother trying to be clever, i could use a phototransistor filtered for IR light (about 9pence) a bass cut filter (RC) and a signal transistor. That might work. The idea of this project is to make the PIC do all the work, so ur PC just waits for data on the rs232 port and it will be the button code. Its using transistors so u don't need an expensive max, and should be buildable for £5. So do people think its worth re-designing before releasing schematic & code?
i would if it is some what easy to make.. i like a bit or circuit making but if its to hard i get somewhat frustrated and if i can get the parts in one go from maplins then yes i would be interested..
