Ok, i have gotten additional funds ( ), and am FINALLY going to update my HT system. Im going to have all my components hidden behind doors, and i need a simple way to repeat the IR signal. If this matters, these are the parts that will need to be controled: Onkyo TX-SR601 Reciever Sony 5Disc CD Changer Onkyo DV-SP500 DVD Player GoVideo 2deck VCR General Instrument (or Motorola) DCT (for AT&T/Comcast Digital Cable) Sony PS2 Remote Sony Trinitron TV Heres the pic: http://brentsfunnypage.tripod.com/ht.jpg (sorry, digitalpose is down AGAIN, so i have to use tripod, unless some one wants to host it for me ) I want it to be wired, the "reciever" will be mounted just above the pic, in clear view (i want this as small as possible), and the parts will be under the TV, except for the DCT, TV, and PS2, so i'll need multiple "senders." The parts are also very close to the doors, so there really needs to be one sender per component.. Zap, this might be your field
Found this circuit for you. I think that you can connect more IR leds in parallel for different rooms etc. The whole thread: http://www.nysaes.cornell.edu/cc/staff/pool/electronics/irrepeat.html
as conkbolt of doom said, I guess a simple ir led (or even more of them) in series with a ir transistor (aahH! what's those called again??)... You might need a amplifier though... that could be made of a OPAMP...
That circuit I posted needs only a handfull of components and they all are easily available from almost everywhere. Don't really know why we call this section modding or anything if people are not ready to make few solder joits.
