I have a problem with DCC: when someone wants to send me a file through DCC, I get the dialog "do you want to accept this file?" or something like that, and when I press "accept", it waits for about 20 seconds saying "Accepting..." and then, after those 20 seconds "Filetransfer Failed". I think it's because I'm behind a router, but there must be a way to make it possible for people to send me DCC's, right? I've searched google on this subject, and did found a page with a tutorial on how to do it, but it didn't work
is the other person behind a router? because by default you should be able to recieve dcc but not send however, in mirc, its easy to sort it go to mirc options, DCC, options and set a port range, you'll need one port for every concurrent transfer you need to do then go to your router and forward that port range to your local ip, should work after that
I've already done that, doesn't works While I don't know if the sender is behind a router, he can send to other people?
I would try to DMZ Host if possible then test....Dont leave it like that but itll set you outside the firewall on the router and open all ports....If it works then try to open the ports manually again and do a port scan via a site such as: http://grc.com/default.htm
DMZ = de militarized zone. Forget that what you need to do, relix, is the following; tell mIRC to use a port of your choice for DCC. (DCC -> options; set the first and last port as the port that you want to use) then forward the port of your choice from your router to your LAN IP via your router's configuration interface all being well, you should have a working DCC Essentially, all you are doing is directing all traffic from wanIP:port to localIP:port Worked for me piccy of my router config (192.168.0.2 being the local IP of my main machine)
That's odd - are you sure you've got it setup correctly in the config of your router? Got a screenshot or anything?
yes...You can only dmz host one ip at a time so put in the lan ip of the machine you want to test it on...Like I said before dont leave it like that because you open yourself to the net without any protection but if its only a few mins of exposure you should be fine...
You must have some type of firewall activated on your system. Either XP's firewall or a third party program. There is the possibility that your ISP is blocking those ports, I guess. If you're certain nothing is blocking from within your system, then give the ISP a call.
go to www.grc.com on the PC that the ports are forwarded to.. Go to shields up, and specify custom port range, and enter the ports your forwarded.. see if they show as closed / open / or stealth.. If they show as stealth check for a firewall on that local pc.. -scoob8000
