    Ello all,

As most of you will know I bought a new phone. It's got IRDA, and considering the route my previous phone went down, I'd like to use the IRDA to save my phone book to PC to be sure.

Is there a cheap way to get an IRDA setup going?

One question would be: Does you motherboard have an IR connector somewhere on the board? Look through the manual, or at the board itself for a 4 pin connector with pins labeled like IR+ IR- GND, etc.

If so, you can take a cheepie route and just patch in some sensors and run IRDA off the board directly.

Otherwise, you'd have to build an IRDA converter (such as IRDA->USB, IRDA->serial, etc.) to give your PC IRDA capability.

That'd be the first thing I'd check! :thumb:

fair play hwulex - thats not bad value - but i agree with kt and very many mobo's have irda compatability on the serial port header built into the bios and this is potentialy a cheaper (more challenging) possibility!
