A always feared that Nexxo would ban me rather than Bindi, yet I don't know why. :D
Still, knowing me I'm now obliged to buy a Bindi t- shirt.

Blimey mate, which stone have you been under all this time? I stopped writing for bit after the acquisition by Dennis; last game review I wrote was back in 2009! Although, to be fair, I was never a staff writer. I just did it because Joe promised me fame, adoration and hot chicks. Come to think of it, I never did get any of that :D

I don't know about Gareth, but I noticed his articles stopped appearing around the beginning of the year.

Oh, and to Bindi: don't be a stranger. Well, at least don't be as strange as Mankz, anyway ;)

    Just as it was predicted when Dennis acquired Bit-tech;

Bit-Tech got the forums and Custom PC the staff from Bit-tech.
The tech and writing of the magazine were reinforced on the expense of the former Bit-tech, the economic downturn dented the site's income and the result was a buying guide dated October 2010 online in February 2011.
The staff at the top left one by one and if the remaining guys don't pay attention or/and forget the legacy there will be a Titanic kind of movie on youtube in a few years time.

On a slightly more serious note, what I'm having trouble getting my head around is that you went to Taipei to work for bit-tech, basically changed your whole lifestyle in doing so... and now a few months later have left bit-tech as a staff writer

It doesn't make sense to me because I don't know the whole story or the specifics, but as I've said before, I wish you all the best with whatever you are moving on to. If it's good enough to leave bit-tech for then it must be a good position :)

Well, in best of cases he got a PR position for some bigger manufacturer.

Each life period has its requirements; from 20-30 one can be less pretending; after 30's it's family, starting his/her own home, possible children, a job till 68 (as you get older it'S more and more difficult to get a new position, since all would like to hire young people).
So you start looking at more and more aspects of your life, at the income, stability, prospects, security,...and how much money your partner makes (if you're a man).

Thank you all for the kind words <3 I'm sticking around don't worry. :) It's now my turn to join the ranks of General Disorder :cooldude:

Pretty much it in a nutshell tbh. As great as freelancing for bit out here has been: the 10-11am starts, working from home, all the tech I could ever want to know about within an hours travel.. I've had to think about the career and long term family stuff recently.

That said, it was well worth giving up my PhD to become a journalist! Yes, ALL journalism is **** pay to begin with, but then just take it as a learning experience if you're young. Later you'll get to editor or start your own site. Working in a proper publishing house has also been a completely separate (and positive!) learning experience compared to when we were just bit-tech too. As has been working for ..5 separate Editors (Wil, (Riyad,) Tim, Alex, James) :)

As long as you have enthusiasm for tech you can learn to write - which is a MASSIVE bonus in any future endeavour - plus you get to meet companies, people and travel to learn about the other side of the industry and its politics (like what really happened to Abit!). Since I joined bit I've been to Austria, ShangHai, Beijing, Taipei, Tunisia, California, Shenzhen, Donguan, Munich, Hamburg, Hannover, and probably more but I forget. So what you 'lose' in cash in hand you gain in life experience.

Thanks Alex for letting me come out here in the first place and thanks James for keeping me on :D Not to forget about all the other guys now and past I've worked with too :thumb:

    :worried:

I'd ask you to elaborate but you'd probably be assassinated by the taiwanese mafia or something.
