First off I'm not sure if this is the right thing to post this in but I came up with an idea, and needed a bit of help.

My plan is to use an original xbox case to start it, remove everything from the innards of it, and insert a motherboard from a pc into it, but since I do not have the measurements I'm not sure it would work, once that's nailed I can get to work testing to see if it works at all.

Afterwards if I know it works I would make my own case built to those measurements.

Good or bad idea? anyone? :D

Hello Danny and welcome to Bit-tech

It is a good idea, and have actually been done before.
Two minutes of googling brought these links:
    Old xbox
    Random xbox mods
    Xbox 360 mod

There should be plenty of inspiration for you there to start off with.

Can be done but will need careful planning and a rather small motherboard.

Good luck with your mod :thumb:

You will need a ITX board or smaller.
One place to buy them is at mini-itx.com.

I would think you would also need a 2.5" HDD and a SFF(Small Form Factor) optical drive, like the ones found in labtops.

i have made a PC in a old xbox case.

using a mini-itx mobo and a pico psu. use the original hard drive mount but i cut it up a bit so that the mobo can fit in. just needed a slim line disc drive and it would of been awesome. shame a threw it away to make a mame machine.
