Graphics is it worth upgrading ati 5870?

hi am thinking of upgrading my current graphics card which is a vapor x 5870 oc edition i want to keep the power usage down i was looking at the ati 6970 would this be a major upgrade in graphics or should i wait a bit longer for newer cards to come out? any suggestions

are you struggling in any game? if not, don't bother upgrading, it's only a tiny bit faster.

6950 = 5870, 6970 is only a tiny bit faster.

and gtx 570 is also about the same speed as 6970, so also not worth it.

i also had 5870, only upgraded to gtx 580 because i bought a new monitor, at 2560x1440, 5870 struggles.

I definitely wouldn't bother upgrading from that to that! In both performance and power use the improvement would be marginal at best!

 

ok thanks my card doesnt really struggle as i mainly use it for 1920x 1080 think il wait bit longer

 

Well, this takes some of the decision pressure off me. Finances answer the rest.

It would be nice to see something as impressive as the 5870 in the run up to BF3. When I first loaded up BC2 on mine, it looked jaw-droppingly awesome.
