Hmmm... that's a strange problem. Try the drive in another machine? Try another drive in your machine? If it's gubbed a nice new 48x LiteON CD-RW costs about £55
if i have my cdrw in my machine i cnat see either dvd or cdrw and if i have cdrw in i cant see it dvd in i can see the one drive and ive tried master n slave on both to no affect so im gonna get a dvd rw on monday grrrrr goodbye cash
How are your IDE channels set up? At the moment I have one CD-RW as a slave to my 60Gb (IDE0) drive and the other CD-RW as a slave to my 100Gb (IDE1) drive. Check in the BIOS and make sure that they are in fact showing up. If not, try a different IDE cable and see if that makes any difference. Try the drive on the other IDE channel, it may be your IDE controller. Failing that, I would have to say something is seriously wrong.
ive checked the cable and ive got 1 master on ide 0 which is a maxtor 30 gig and my cdrw is master on 1 with dvd as slave on 1 it was working until friday then windows started jerking when the cdrw is connected
