I think it might be. I've been to solve my BSOD problems, by moving PCI cards etc. This seems have worked. For about 2hrs, that is. It's now BSODing on an infinite loop thing, which it says is the graphics driver. Fair enough - roll back the driver. Now the bloody thing is putting all sorts of crap all over the screen, and then feezes. I can't even get it to boot without garbage on the screen in safe mode. I thoght it might have been the card comming away from the socket, so I've reseated it. But it's still not right. The only thing I can say is there's very little force required to push the card back in the slot. Could this be caused by dodgey contacts in the AGP slot? HELP!!!!
Well my theory on the AGP slot seems to be wrong.... I've got an old TNT in there at the mo, and it's fine! I think it is the GF4
Conclusive proof! It is the GF4. Took it round to a mates house, and put it in his machine. He has the Creative labs ti4400, which is made by MSI (Same as mine in otherwords). He got exactly the same problems - and when he tried to fire up a particular game (Grand Prix Legends), it complained that it couldn't find a D3D card!! It transpires that my GF4 has a thinner PCB than the Creative (or my old TNT for that matter). You can actually see the differnce side by side of these two Identical cards! It slipped in just as easlily to the 2nd machine as it did in mine, wheras my mates took some force to get it in. We're guessing that not all of the contacts within the AGP slot are making contact with the card. So I guess i'll have to live with the TNT for now until I RMA the 'skinny runt' back to Watford Electronics.
