weird thing happened to me, when ever i turn my computer on it's gets tons of artifacting, this happened after my computer was idleing for around 3-4 hrs. now i am like oh ****, cause i don't have the money to replace it, argh. Does it sound like totaly screwed. If so, then i don't think i will ever buy ATI again. What i am assuming from my results is that some memory chips got to hot for some reason, and is now artifacting.
sounds like you should remove the card and check it well, wait until it cools down, then place it back into computer, if it still has artifacting, then replace the heatsink with something alot better. I am surprised that you cannot afford it considering a replacement costs 200-250$ when you have all those other comps which are really nice!.
i haven't taken it out of the computer, but i did let it cool down in the computer for about 2 hrs, while i was out. In regards to not being able to replace it, this is beacause i have to buy books and what not in about 3 days to college. Also the heatsink has done me fine since i got it, this is the first bit of trouble i have had so far. But thanks for the info and ideas.
I had a similar problem. Rang crucial, sent card to them, recieved new card two days later. I was impressed.
