Ok I'm lost, confused or just right an idiot. All the chat of -bidadv etc. loses me. I'm running: - 2500k @ 4.3 Asus P8P67Pro PNy 460GTX 768MB 4x2GB Corsair XMS3 Crucial 64GB C300 Win 7 64bit Home Premium(main pc so not using Linux) I am running 1x CPU client, I'm not syure what settings, HFM.net reports 2k PPD 1x GPU client, HFM.net reports 9k PPD Are my points scores really low? Do I have enough clients running? I can't run 24/7 all the time but want to get the most from it, when up. My work's PC is an E3400 @ stock with 2GB, it runs all 24/7 but is slow.
GPU PPD okay, CPU PPD not okay. When you set the client up did you make sure to set it up with the -smp tag? Looks like it is only running basic work units. -bidadv units won't work on your CPU, it needs 8 threads. With -smp units you should be seeing roughly 15K, maybe less.
Check in windows task manager to see if all cores are maxed at 100%, other wise as Eminem stated above you are probably running the single core client not multicore. Try stopping the gpu client as it will more than likely deduct the same amount of ppd away from the CPU client and use many times the power. Experiment. Let us know what you find.
There were guys that forced BIGADV to work on a 2500k but it sounded like a right pain in the arse http://www.overclock.net/overclock-net-folding-home-team/817550-windows-7-setting-up-bigadv-amd.html
Have you got a passkey? http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-passkey#ntoc3 Have a read of this http://www.overclock.net/folding-home-guides-tutorials/682249-windows-7-setting-up-smp-client.html Also where you add flags (-smp ect)(right click on short cut, click properties)(second pic on above link) you can start by adding -configonly flag, you can then configure setting. But after configuring you gotta remove -configonly flag. flag info..-bigadv -smp at the bottom http://fahwiki.net/index.php/How_do_I_know_what_the_client_flags_(-switches)_are,_and_what_they_do?
I must be going wrong somewhere. Still not getting 100% CPU usage. My config and log text is below, any ideas? Sorry if it is information overload. I did discover I was running 6.23, now on 6.34 but no difference. I can only guess this might be due to a incorrect flag maybe? I'm sure someone with much more knowledge than me will set us both straight if i'm wrong though.
Gordos, The Evil is correct, when you installed the new client and added the flag -smp was it into the same directory, if so it could be running the old unit that your client downloaded. You can delete the WU folder but it would be best to finish the WU and then download a new unit then check the log and processing load.
I started the folder with nothing but the client in it. Then I ran config to get my settings in. I've since tweaked it to get the technical jobs yes, sorry forgot the actual name. The CPU over night is now running 100% and I'm getting 14.9k PPD Thanks for the help and advice guys
