October. Win 7 in October, and DX11 is supposed to be a part of Win7 (right?) so should be october-ish. Definitly Q4 this year though. I'm waiting for i3 and i9 though.

i9s are coming out in Q1-Q2 2010. They are a 32nm die shrink of the existing Core i7s, but they also have 2 extra cores, for a total of 6. There will only be one model, which will succeed the i7 975 at the $999 price point.

Yeah that is why it is a safe bet to go with the 1156 socket at the moment. Initially, you will have the i5s, but early next year the new i7s (8xx) will run on the 1156 socket as well. No one really knows what is going to happen with the 1336 socket after Gulftown (i9).

Your forgetting i3, which will hit around the same time as i5 (wikipedia reports it was initially scheduled for Q1-2010, but Intel rescheduled to Q4 2009). I am actually looking forward to see what i3 is capable of, because its the one with the IGP in the cpu, and you can count on these being used in mobile-intended products. Also, i9's are going to be server-type/Desktop Extremist CPUs, and they are going to have a 1k+ price tag. Personally, I'd go get an i7 while they are out.

i3 is interesting, especially for people that like to go with the mATX/ITX mods.
