Hiya bit-tech, I don't know if you are up to a bit if investigative journalism but this current issue doesn't seem to be getting any press. This is pretty poor given that it is, in my opinion, a bit of a biggie... Basically there seems to be a Windows 7 64bit and Intel IGP issue with the SB chipset that means you cannot use the IGP HDMI output. There are fingers being pointed at the vBIOS (which can only updated in conjunction with the m/b manufacturers BIOS) as well as at the Intel drivers (which have always been poor). This thread on the Intel support forum gives the background, symptoms and user experiences: http://communities.intel.com/thread/20439?start=0&tstart=0. There are other threads but none which summarises everything in one thread. I was thinking that with bit-tech's access to a number of SB motherboards for review, this would be something that you could actually test for yourself and give your view. It has stopped me purchasing Sandy Bridge components for an office/web/email machine that requires two simultaneous digital outputs (dual screen) as I will not be able to use the HDMI output. Thoughts? Is this something bit-tech could report on?
On an H67 motherboard? The problem is unique to the Intel IGP on the H67 chipset, using HDMI output. Edit: one further clarification, it appears to be an issue only with Windows 7 64bit (e.g. Intel IGPU drivers).
