    Hi,

I'm currently running Ubuntu 5.04 and I'm having problems with the flash plugin for mozilla (obtained through synaptic), it acts quite erratically, some animations fall out of sync with the attatched audio, and sometimes it causes firefox to exit unexpectedly. I installed Galeon to make sure it wasn't firefox playing up, and that was the same, so I uninstalled the flash modules and I can browse perfectly now.

So, I was just wondering if there was a newer release of a flash player plugin so I can view embedded flash content without worrying about the browser taking a dive . . .

Hopefully there is, but if not, it's not the end of the world as animation i want to watch, I can download and watch them with a standalone player.

Cheers for any help in advance :)

never liked flash on linux as it was making firefox crash every other page, which caused me to switch to opera which became unstable when i installed the flash plugin for it so.... yeah flash is irritating

Can't say that I've noticed any problems with the offical release from macromedia.

    Cheers Goat and Simon,

I removed the version I was running (the one synaptics lists) and downlaoded the newest version from macromedias site, everything seems to be a whole lot better so I can only asume that I was running an ancient version

I installed flash for linux from Macromedia's homepage, and I've had no real problems with it - running Opera 8.02 on Ubuntu Linux 5.04.

The package from Macromedia is pretty slick, it's got a browser sniffer that found both Opera & FF on this system and installed it perfectly.
