Right, as MSI Afterburner really kills my FPS when recording. I want to get a video capture device. Now it needs to be USB and not PCI-E, as I have filled all the slots! It also needs to get a signal from a Dual Link DVI cable, and capture all footage. I would prefer if the software would record locally, but I can have a laptop to hand, for that to do all the work if needs be. Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks, Si.
Something like this of use? http://www.ebuyer.com/394930-xenta-...ium=products&gclid=CKTojeHntbYCFQLHtAodYHQAfA http://www.roxio.co.uk/enu/products/game-capture/hd-pro/overview.html Most options seem to use HDMI as an input. Is it possible to get a dual link DVI to HDMI cable?
Thanks for that, but I'm not sure if it can capture more than 1080p? Yes, I have a Dual Link DVI to HDMI cable to hand.
You could try xsplit broadcaster, I use it on my dell (1200p) and to give you an idea, Bioshock infinite is 60fps on ultra with vsync on and with xsplit it usually sits around 53-55. It doesn't kill fps too much, although I have the game reading from a different drive to the recording.
Look into OBS. Very customisable, so you might be able to tweak it to get the performance you want with still decent quality recordings
I've tried a lot of different software, and they all have a huge performance hit, if you record raw footage! 5 mins of raw video at 1440p 120fps = 40GB+ Dxtory is what I have been using, and like other have said, I have it saving to another drive. Also tried it with enabling and disabling setting here; Witcher 2 will run at 100FPS, but as soon as I turn on video record, it drops to under 60fps. Maybe because the game is more CPU dependent?
Do you have it set in task manager so that the processes utilise different cores? It might help, I believe it is called 'set affinity' when you right click on each process.
Bandicam - will allow recording up to 2650x1600 and as it can be set to converting on the fly you don't end up with colossal video files. Not sure how good it actually but is was worth mentioning it.
Yep, it's set to all 12 threads. I'll try setting it to use a couple of threads. I'll have a look a bit later, (seeks a free trail...) You've all been Repped BTW.
