Did you really need to ask? I'd change the case personally your getting a crappy PSU you don't actually need!

I'd say that the Killer M1 is a waste of money, use the extra to get 4Gb of RAM.

That seems pretty good. The power supply might be a bit overkill, but enough for future I suppose. (have a read of this though http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2007/11/10/ultra_x3_600w_1000w_psus/6)

I am no expert on liquid cooling, but the website seems pretty vague about it. Do you know anything about it? (what size radiators, whether it cools the GPU etc)

By the looks of things, you can probably afford 4GB RAM, its so cheap now, go for it!

Thought about getting 2 hard drives? one for windows, one for storage? Personally, I prefer is that way, but personal preference I suppose.

All the reviews I have read seems to be fairly critical of the Killer Nic. Its not that it does anything bad, its just that it doesn't really do a huge amount special. Save the money and buy faster internet. *beaten*

Just in case you hadn't noticed, but that screen is not HD, it is 1680*1050

Anyway, how much is that going to cost? You have presumably looked elsewhere. And may I suggest that you built it yourself? Its quite fun :D

I was just thinking do the "network cards" actually work! Also (sorry to hijack) but how exactly will it go anyway to get rid of lag?

^ exactly. It is much more down to your internet connection. Apparently:
Powered by Lag and Latency Reduction (LLR) Technology
Bypasses Windows network stack to provide the lowest in-game ping, the best responsiveness and the smoothest online gaming experience.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMQsFuwEdaA&eurl=http://www.killernic.com/games/default.aspx
according to this, it improves pings in CS by 2MS, BF2 by 1MS (lol) and in WoW by a slightly larger 38MS. Somehow it also improves the FPS, but it must be a really slow processor for changing the NIC to make any difference.

It's nice, but take out that useless NIC, and unless you plan to SLi two Ultras, go with a P35 or X38 - they overclock better and are less buggy than the 680i. Also, you absolutely won't need that 1kW PSU; you could get something smaller + quieter to run the same system, like a Corsair HX520 or HX620 [the 520 has been proven to run SLi GTXs], which are both excellent modular PSUs. Prebuilt liquid cooling usually isn't very good, and good air cooling is more cost-effective either way, with less risk.

With the money you save, you could get an extra 2GB of RAM or a bigger monitor or one of those shiny new Novint Falcons.

Looks like a good bundle of stuff. If you are interested in water cooling, then best place I can recommend for advice is -

I see u r from USA. Why dont u go on newegg.com and see the prices. Im sure u can find a better deal. And i read the review for pentium cpu and it looks like, 4 gameing a E6850 is better than the quad core. And I say wait a month or so, for the new pentium to be on the market. and maybe u might wanna buy a mobo with PCIe 2.0. All of that is "old" technology. Patience and will get some good deals.

So the network card in question is a waste of money, get a decent ISP then spend the rest of the money on so Hardware upgrades

    Welcome!! :)

DON'T buy a 680i board when the 7-series is just around the corner. Seems silly.

    1000W is overkill

    Killer NIC whatever is overkill

I'd love to see the price of that Dominator compare to anything else with Micron D9s in it - Kingston 9600 / OCZ FlexXLC 9200? Dominators are excellent but they can be expensive.

Considering you have the cash I'd greatly encourage a 24" TFT - bigger the better, and make sure it's 8-bit like the BenQ and don't be fooled by the "2ms Gaming" marketing BS because a) you don't need it and b) it'll be at the expense of colour quality.

Like above ^^ A second hard drive will make things a bit easier between storage and OS.

Other than that - good looking system! :)

I would wait a while for the 780-chipset and 8800GTS. I don't see any reason to pay the premium for Ultra even over the 8800GT. Atleast if you're going with 20" monitor.

Get rid of the killer nic as said, and get moar memory for the money. Also about the PSU, you'd be better off with some real 600+ W than that.

Yeah, the "liquid cooling" they don't give any details about made me a little nervous. I'd like to build my own rig to save some money, but I've never completely built a brand new computer before.(just taken them apart and put back together) I'm not sure if you need to worry about jumper pins(because I have no idea how the positioning of those works), and if you need to do any harddrive partitioning, and I've never installed Windows(which can't be hard), no idea how to install liquid cooling, and need to buy an internet browser CD.

Also, what's so special about the new 780-chipset and the new 8800GTS. Is that better than the 8800 Ultra? Is there a downside to having too big of a PSU? What's so bad about the case(is there a recommended case type)?

I thought the M1 Killer card would be a good choice because I mainly play MMOs and someone even posted earlier in this thread that it gave 35 FPS on WoW alone. I plan to play Warhammer and Age of Conan and you would think it would give an even bigger FPS boost on those games wouldn't you?

I'm interested in overclocking my new rig too. Although I have never done it before, I learn fairly quick and with a little guidance from an online guide I could probably do it alright.

to be fair; I knew even less than you when I first built the rig i am sitting at right now. It was on a very tight budget and yes some components bottleneck my system but that leaves room for upgrades ... anyway. My point is, you cant go wrong buying individual parts and building your own. It's so much cheaper and more fun. It may not be for you and if not, listen to the wise people posted above, but if you fancy a challenge, use a website like this to spec up a system, then buy individually.

The new 780 chipset will have tri-SLI, and other overall improvements on top of the current 680 board. As for the new GTS, it will feature the new G92 core like the 8800GT, and more stream processors. It is slightly slower than the GTX for the most part.

As for the other parts, they are mostly good, I would obviously not use such a power supply. I would recommend the Corsair HX620. Don't bother with liquid cooling, there isn't really much point TBH. Wait for the new Peryn procesors, they will be much better overclockers, they do 4.3 ghz on air alone. Try some cheaper enthusiast grade memory, PC6400, from a brand like Geil, GSkill, OCZ, or another company.

Finally, make sure that you buy the Seagate 7200.11 hard drives, they are the fastest. Also make sure that you get a 24 inch Benq with the money that you have saved from no water cooling.

    Finally, build yourself.

The Seagate 7200.11 hard drive only got a 4/5 rating on newegg. They have a faster cache rate but a slower RPM. Would it be better to just get 2x raptors in RAID0 and then an external hard drive for storage? Also, how much better is the high quality RAM compared to the PC6400 stuff? Does anyone have release dates for the new 780 chipset and the new peryn processors.

It looks like the new 8800 GTS G92 vid cards are out on newegg if I'm not mistaken.

How much better is liquid cooling too. Because I was thinking about getting 2x 8800 GTS G92's instead of an Ultra because they're half price.

Don't bother with the Raptors, they are not really much faster than the Seagates (as in, not that noticable) and much more expensive, with barely any space.

As for the GTS cards, if you have the money, get them. Otherwise, stick with the GT.

What is the best motherboard to support the Q6600 processor and 2x of the new 8800 GTS (G92) vid cards, with 4GB of crucial 6400 ram? This looked like the most popular...ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX. Also, what's some good liquid cooling I should look into for purchasing? If I get liquid cooling, do I need to get a bunch of extra fans/heat sinks...because I've seen some people have like 12 fans on their computer...
