Unless i missed something, its all compatible.

8500 sli is a bit of a weird choice though.

It would be better to get a more powerful single card, IMHO. It means you don't have the inneficiancy of SLI, which when coupled with a low end card strikes me as pointless. :duh:

Er, i'm presuming for around the same price and Nvidia?

In that case i'd wait till next week and get an 8800GT 256MB, almost the same price, and will be much better off, especially with the future chance of SLI. If you can stretch the budget a wee bit, i'd gor for the normal 512MB version of the same card (8800GT).

You'll see much better performance :thumb:.

either an 8800gt or a 3870. there really is no reason to get anything else at the moment.

also, xion power supply? are those any good? i've never heard of them before.

so you think I should get the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 16X PCI Express or the ATI Radeon HD 3870 PCI-E x16 512MB Video Card? Just wondering (probably a stupid question) is the upgrade from the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512MB 16X PCI Express to the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 16X PCI Express worth the $127?

with the SLI capable chipset i'd go for the 8800, makes more sense if you plan to go to SLI later on.

Think of the forwards longevity! Think of Crysis and such ;) 8800 is cheap as dirt for what it does. You'll not regret it.

    Also:

why do you have a seperate DVD-ROM drive? Just curious... the first drive will read DVDs ok :) unless you're making backups, in which case I'll shut up!

    Why MS works?
    Why XP SP2?

Also if you're spending the money personally I'd get a 500gb hard disk rather than 250gb, can never have enough space! But that's all up to you :)

as a general rule, i would say never get more storage space than you need. the price of hard drives is constantly dropping, so if you buy 250 now and 250 a month from now, you are saving over what you would pay for 500 today. this rule breaks if you are buying anything bleeding-edge, but for anything up to 500gb drives, the price per gigabyte is the same no matter what size of disk you get.

Power supply. Try the Corsair HX 520 instead. Much better psu than a xion, or aspire.

kk thanks for all the suggestions, yes I will be making back-ups ^^. The OS doesn't really matter, just need to get one or I won't be allowed to buy it and it's the cheapest, ms works because it's free. I'm getting it off of cyberpowerpc.com, the Corsair HX 520 wasn't an option.

why cyberpowerpc? go through newegg or something, i'm sure you can get a better deal, and then you can get exactly the parts you want.

Does Newegg assemble them as well? I looked through it and I couldn't find a configurator. As I said before I'm a n00b at pcs, scared to build it myself at this point...

Oh one other thing, is the $50 extra to go from regular memory to memory w/ heat spreader worth it?

thats how i was when i first did it. but if you try it yourself, and you get stuck, just come here to ask for help.
and its really not hard, everything only fits one way. as long as you pay attention to what you are doing, and make an effort to reduce static, you shouldn't have a problem.
the only thing i dont like about home building is if something doesn't work, it can be a pain to figure out what part you need to send back.
