My next project is going to be a htpc style pc with high gaming capabilities. I have been looking at cases that would fit everything, be of an htpc style and still relatively small and the silverstone gd08 looks ideal:

My question is, can I get a custom back panel made that has 5 vertical expansion slots (for m-atx) and possibly move the (smaller) motherboard into the space where the psu is and have the psu at the top where the io panel and 80mm fans are.

    How possible is this?
    Thanks,

Why make it so complicated? Grab a SG02, or something like it, that allready has the PSU above the I/O and go from there.

You can then go ahead and rip it apart or use it as it is, depending on what other hardware you want to use.

    I've got an SG03

It would be a total headache if you've been forced to turn to a forum to ask this very question.

Anything is possible if you have the required skill set, everything is impossible if you don't have the required skill sets.

The amount of butchery to the rear panel would render it useless and fulgy. However if you were to de-rivet the chassis to get just the rear I/O panel free to use as a template then you could fabricate a new panel with fresh material. The next headache after that would be the motherboard tray modding.

Just rip it apart and build a new box around the backplate/mobo-tray? Alot easier then what you try to do with the GD08.
