My ISP is charging me €100 (ish) per month for ADSL @ 512k/128k - this is clearly a ridiculous price (uk price: £70). So, I thought - what about renting a line as if I was a buisness or somesuch. For example, tell them I want to rent a 2mbps ADSL 'LINE'. Do you think they'd do that? and if so, would it be cheaper?

I'm just trying to get a reasonable internet price... £70 per mth for this crap-fest is a joke! (I'm tempted to contact the telecommunications regulator and demand they look into the monopolistic nature - them charging more than their European counterparts and getting away with it because theres no other option - there isnt even any 'flat rate' internet suppliers for dialup!; hell, their the only internet suppliers in the country that provide ADSL - even beyond that, their the only internet suppliers {well, not anymore. but used to be only a few months ago} )

please help. I'm poor and I'm sure I could use the money I'm sponging off my parents for this ADSL for something more worthwhile (a new computer for example)

if BT was the only internet supplier believe me, they would have no hesitation charging the same price. But thank god, BT are 'infesting' the Irish market and giving at least minor competition (which forced my ISP to release a 1/2 price package). In the meantime I'm going to call the monopoly card on them and see what happens.
