Look for a IPS panel, the picture quality and true 8-bit color (and not 6-bit with dithering) that you'll get form one, will be worth every penny.

Look on youtube for countless monitor comparison, and you'll see that a bit more in price, you'll have a monitor that massacres all TN panels, making your computer more enjoyable.

Here is a monitor comparison table of popular recommended models on this forum, which are also well reviews. They are TN panels inside, but they are there for specific reasons (big advantage):

Hope you find this useful. Please note that their is not much focus on 22inch lately on the forum, and reviews (no new interesting models), so I only have 1 on the table. However, I am open for new models if anyone has any suggestions.

In other words, the Dell 2209WA, the HP Z22RW and the 23" NEC EA23WMi.

Whats your budget? do you want/(know what is ips/pva) panel is? ips is great, because of Goodbytes I bought a U2410 +rep Goodbytes (nice table BTW) if you have no need (cant see the difference) theres no point buying one.

So I take it you see a real difference with the IPS monitors?

The colour reproduction is so much better than a TN panel, also the viewing angles are better.

But the main reason is the colour accuracy. Have a look at GoodBytes' monitor comparison chart.
    Very very useful...

I've got a u2410 (IPS) beside my 22" Tn+Film panel and the difference is very noticeable. IPS panels are becoming cheaper all the time too so if you can grab one of those. You'll be paying a little more money now but you'll be happy with your IPS screen for years.

I have this monitor, and I've found it to be worth the money I paid for it.
The only issue i found initially is that because it has that touch button thing, it was a bit hard to find the power switch to turn it on at first, due to the lighting in my room. I did learn where the button is quickly, though.
