    I/m thinking of building a W/C setup... will this one work well?

    Laing D4 ---> Black Ice Xtreme III ---> PolarFlo TT CPU Block 3 Barb --->
    barb a) ---> PolarFlo TT GPU Block ---> Y connector ---> Laing D4
    barb b) ---> Y connector ---> Laing D4
    connect with primaflex tubing...
    black ice xtreme 3 with three silenx 14 dbA fans... would there be any liquids with cooling capabilities equal to or better than water that do not conduct electricity? i forget what the term for this. I havent bought any w/c components yet, so suggestions for better replacements would be much appriciated.

    Bit overkill on the BIX3, unless you intend to run one of the latest P4s (which belt out 136W) in combination with a GF6800 Ultra or something. A BIX2 would do just as well. And dude, where's your res?

    Also I would put the Y connector before the GPU block. Otherwise the two tubes coming from the CPU block will have different lengths and flow resistances, which will lead to an uneven distribution of flow in the CPU block. This may affect its efficiency.

    As for non-conductive (and non-corrosive) coolants: There's Fluid XP (a sort of really low-viscosity oil) that conducts very little and is as effective as water, and Fluorinert (PF5080), a synthetic totally non-conductive fluid that is also as efficient as water (perhaps more so, as it has really low viscosity and therefore makes good contact with blocks and rads).

    i will have some pretty hot hardware (no pun intended)... socket T p4 3.4 and an x850 xt pe... bix3 or 2? also, i intended to have the y connector merging the two output barbs from the waterblock... one cooling video card, one cooling hdd, maybe chipset etc. would i need a res... ive read some things that say i do and others that say i dont... i intended to use the Danger Den fillports for filling/getting air out. thanks for the tips.

    On that setup a BIX2 would probably manage fine, but if you want to future-proof it a bit, and you can fit it, a BIX3 will give you some slack (and allow you to use slower, quieter fans).

    Again, I would put the Y connector after the CPU block and before the other blocks. Do not split the loop. Put everything in series. Nothing is gained by doing otherwise.

    A res is optional, but, I find, always handy for systems that are prone to running a bit warm as they give more expansion space for the coolant. But a nice long T piece will do also.

    ok, great. thanks a lot. lots of helpful info. :thumb: im kinda going for quiet, so having 3 low fans would prob be quiter than 2 high(er) fans, right?

    yeah, you probably won't hear the silenx ones you want.
