Yes, because it has to output a signal in order for something to actually detect it. If you have encryption you shouldn't be paronoied.

When you say poisoned, do you mean damaged by radiation? Wifi has not been proven to have adverse affects on people.

    Unless you don't have encryption!

**** I forgot to mention that. If you turn encryption off, it alters the wavelength of the signal, which can mess with your brain. Insanity has been on the up in recent years due to unsecured access points. It can also (in EXTREMELY rare cases) cause aids.

    LOL!

I wouldnt have a wifi box in my room, personally, but then again, people say it shouldnt matter as we have phones and microwaves. But I dont have a microwave in my room and my phone runs off a battery.

Seriously, though, you should be fine in whatever context you meant that in. As Mr. Wonka stated, enable encryption and all the security goodies on your router and you'll be fine.

Oops, looks like I missed the "posioned" bit!

Have you got a link to this? WPA I know is hardware based, but I'm not sure/didn't know it changes the wavelength, but I'm intrigued about this!

Either way, microwaves have been around for years and nobody seems to have any problems, think about how much radio waves are in the air other than wifi? A lot!

WiFi-induced brain damage leads to "heroin addiction, paedophilia and suicide bombing", especially if you use WEP, so you'd better upgrade your firmware and enable WPA.

EDIT: Wonka, he was joking. ;)

Well could you move it out of the room and connect it with a cable?

Just look at it this way - in 10 years, you and your glowing green children will be able to sue the manufacturer in a highly publicized class-action lawsuit.

Well do you need wireless? You could just disable it. Or if it's needed for the rest of the house, then disable the wireless on (I'm assuming you have a modem/wifi/router jobbie) and run a cat5 outside your room to a wireless access point.

Tbh it would be far easier just to run a cable, as having them move the socket would probably involve going into walls etc.

I seriously can't believe this kind of BS still propagates itself on this type of forum

Microwaves that are utilized for communication can in NO WAY whatsoever damage carbon based cells, EVER. PERIOD.

The reason microwave ovens function as they do is because of the frequency they operate at. The waves are small enough where the atoms move and cause friction.

Cancer is caused by mutation of the DNA.

Microwaves in no way alter DNA - the wavelength for communication is drastically too big to have any effect on human cells, DNA, or anything else you've got in your squishy, pink little body.

The other "cause" a lot of ignorant and stupid people quote is "electromagnetic waves". Bull****! EM waves have no effect on humans, as we ARE NON-MAGNETIC. Try sticking a magnet to you, does it stick (and I don't mean to the area of your skin where you just spilt your coca-cola)? There is your answer ;)

Get over it, it's just paranoia, and you're all dirty fear mongers.
