can you by any chance give me one of your famous techincal answers on why graphics on pc's are better than on a ps2 as my friend won't believe me. Cheers.
Because PCs are just more 1337 PS2s have very little memory, 250mhz CPU, slow GPU, not much graphics memory. Thats as technical as I can do hopefully someone can do better.
The PS2 can draw 20 million polygons/second at 147.5Mhz when actual drawing game effects... My PNY GeForce 3 Ti 200 can draw 29 million polys/sec at 175 Mhz(stock clock speed, I am actually running it at 200 Mhz). And obviously, I am not running any of the newer cards like the ATI or Geforce 4 Ti's which can draw much more. Not to mention, the games have to load from disk to ram on the PS2 as opposed to from HDD to ram which has a much faster pipe for quicker loads (which is my main preference to PC over my PS2, not to mention saving).
not to mention the obvious one that u can use a pc for far more applications then just play games and whatnot...
Well just laugh at him, we know we run superiour machines. Why do you think a new geforce card is more than a PS2 itself? And if they were that good, why don't we all have them? the Xbox is basically a mini PC, which shows that console technology is going that way. Also it runs a Geforce three, that also backs up the fact that PC technology is far, far ahead of any crappy console.
Just Run GTA3 simultaneousely on a PC and PS2 side by side and then take a look, on anything bigger than a 24inch TV the PS2 graphics are as fuzzy as $h*te
gta3 textures have been made better for pc so it wouldn't be a fair test but still a pc will probably still win
ive had this arguement so many times. and the person who i argued with has now converted to the PC side, hahahahah it will get you in the end, face it the PC is a leet machine, an Xbox or PS2 can't compare to a PC, there are certain games that can run better ona PC (i.e Ultima Online & type games, and CS & type games) than a console.
I'll probably get flamed for this but in defense of the consoles, I think they do have their place. I mean, when was the last time your Playstation got a virus, refused to play a certain game for no good reason or gave you tinnitus with its delta? I like the plug-and-playability of the consoles, but I still love my PC games!
well, isn't it so that the resolution of a TV is about 640*480? that's prolly the main reason, also for the very little memory available, we PC-owners have allways the swap file at our disposal!
I agree, this isn't dissing consoles. I love my PS2... in their defence, it was engineered, what, three years ago? The graphics where powerful then but you can't upgrade, you get what you paid for. No compatibility issues, virus, etc... they have their place but you can't and it isn't really fair to compare the two... /plus, you get DVD which is what pushed me over the top with PS/2. At the time, my pc was woefully behind... 333 Cely, with 32X CDROm, 64 MB ram, etc... PS2 filled the game gap.... Now that I have a new rockin PC... the PS2 is getting dusty but still serves a purpose...
