you absolutely know you have something but for the life of you can't find it. I need the two metal brackets that allow me to fit a 2.5" card reader into one of the 5.25" drive bays on one of my CM 690II's. I know I have them as they were constantly falling out of my pc parts cupboard and nearly landing on my feet every time I opened it but now that I need them they are no where to be seen. Not much of a rant, just venting really
Stay cool, look somewhere else or better yet try experimenting and see if you can put it back without those brackets.
I've dug through all my stuff looking for a diskdrive... Again a year later. Again a year later. Come to the conclusion I must've borrowed it off sometimes. Two years later, I remember my case has a hidden disk drive door...been in there, unconnected, all the time.
You'll find the bracket the moment you succeed On that notice: I couldn't find my rainsuit (for the motorcycle.) Searched everywhere, nothing. One year on: Moved house, went through all my stuff, nothing. Don't really need it so meh. Year on (this year) took a few days trip, so I needed a rainsuit. Went through everything again. Nothing. Bought a new rainsuit. Found it that evening.
I found it after turning everything upside, tidied it all the it all back up and decided to look in a smallish plastic storage container in which I didn't think they'd fit. and there they were......
This is the bane of my existence... Things keep disappearing - most recently my hipster beard oil and wife's bio-oil. My iPad nano went for a walk some time ago and everywhere these things should be, they are being uber elusive.
I did find two socks that I had been missing for a while during my rummaging though which was a bonus.
When i was a kid, Lego, i COULD never find the bit i wanted, until after i tore it all apart to build something else. Mean while, fast forward 15 years, I can't find my Screen wipes and cleaner.... Sam
All y life things have disappeared only to return once I had bought a replacement. Except many years ago I bought a set of coloured (yellow) round IDE cables, remember them? Now I was drunk when I opened the package but the following morning they were nowhere to be found, packaging was still there but no cables and these never returned from whence they went. Most recently my favourite set of pliers vanished only to appear pretty much easily noticeable lying under a table once I had replaced them. I think I have naughty gremlins in my house.
The one in my house is also called 'girlfriend'. Tools go missing, sorry, 'replaced' to elsewhere and it's best to ask her first. I've given up asking her to put the correct CDs back in the correct case though...
i have a couple of them, the two most annoying are those that move things, and the little bugger that lives in my pocket and ties my headphones into knots that break the laws of physics
I had pretty much the exact same thing with missing brackets, I was looking all over my place for my 2.5" to 3.5" drive mounts to swap in some new SSD storage but for the life of me couldn't work out where it was. In the end I got tired of digging through all of my boxes and cupboards and just grabbed a couple of cheap ones from Amazon. Also couldn't work out where I placed one of my old PSOne games that I wanted to revisit so went and repurchased a copy of that too... luckily I found a copy in a local second hand games store for a bargain as it was going for anything from £25 - £70 on the net.
Once you said "i was drunk", the explanation becomes simple. You unpacked the cables, and decided to throw out the packaging. Except because you were drunk, you took the cables, threw them out and kept the packaging .
I thought that might be the case except if I had thrown them in the wheelie bin they would have been on top. But I would not have thrown them there as that would of meant going downstairs opening the back door to get to the bin. Which I certainly would not bother to do in my inebriate state.
I swear theres some bored poltergeist doing this for the hell of it, doesnt make sense. Was looking for my spare heart rate monitor, went through all the drawers it could be in emptied them out an couldnt find it. Gave up sat down to repair the faulty one, went to get the spare batteries from one of the draws I was just in, foudn it right beside the batteries. Im telling you, poltergeists!
this happens to me when the wife cleans up my stuff for no reason. reliably 3 weeks later: "What are you looking for." - "this" - "hmmm... no idea...haven't seen it". 3 hours later, find it coincidentally in a place that only she ever puts things...
