I have just finished putting a window in an old network hub, and put a led in it to give it light (its only a 5 port one, and I only have one led atm). However after a short wile (2-3mins) the led starts flashing, and it is not a flashing led, connected to a resistor (56ohms) to the power input (5v). Sory I have no camera, but can anyone tell me something to try, to try and fix the problem, as I am not sure where to go.

Perhaps a poltergeist in the network tries to tell you something. :D Does the power for the LED really come from 5V? What kind of LED is it? For a high brighness LED with 3.4V drop the 56 Ohm may be OK, but for an older LED with 1.6V drop that resistance is a little low. Anything getting hot?

Yea, It was not getting 5v, it was getting 12v. The reason was I was powering it directly off the molex, and giving it 12 v instead of 5v. THe hub is rated at 5v, so I am quite lucky the hub did not die. The led very quickly through red, orange, green, then off. I will be waiting a few days, and then will be fitting it out with green leds, as I have some coming, and have ordered a few too many.

No such thing as too many! :) you could save them for another mod, or just ad a nice underglow to your hub :)

SOrry, it wasnt clear, I ordered some for another mod that I will be doing to my case (under glow), and ordered a few too many for that. Therefore my hub is getting some nice green lighting.
