Modding It does exist! Slot loading CD-Rom (not DVD)

    i actually had one of those drives about 5-6 years ago. i got it from compaq. i think it was a 24x speed too. i still have it if anyone is interested or just wants to see pics of it hehe

    FYI the slot leads break ALOT, take note Pioneer makes a much better slot loading mechanism, we had to replace a LOT at my old school

    they may not look great but a pioneer 120 (i just got one and it's great) and a £40 cd-rw are gonna perform much better than that slim line slot loading drive.

    so i guess u have to decide which u'd rather have, performance or looks.

    p.s. are they IDE connectors, if not what are they and how to u connect them to a normal mobo.

    The slim drives are really just Laptop DVD drives.

    They have a universal connections, that can be adapted to normal IDE.
    The adapters can be found very cheap ($10-$20)

    I have a Goldstar Model CRD-8241B(CP1). Looks pretty much like yours Zap. It is a 24x I think, manufactured April 1998. Picked it up on eBay a few months ago for about $10.
