I have been on a road trip for 2 weeks and have had little success with photos until last night. I got some cool stuff. here is just a taste: these were just my favs....I have a few more in my photostream as well. Nick
I think the first seagull shot is great! I really like the way the gull's wing frames the setting sun - in fact, I think the photo would be stronger if cropped. Come down to just above the wing, and come in to just right of the bird in the background. Very nice. -monkey
Really nice shots! Especially enjoying four and two! Not so keen on the first shot though, I just feel there is a bit too much going on in the foreground which ruins the composition. The reflection on the railway tracks on the second is really effective though. It draws the eyes around the image towards the details on the buildings. Nice shots though
they've come out well I've not tried night time photography yet. What settings did you work from? (note to self, replace broken tripod and get butt outside, with camera....)
I like number 2 the most of those, only critique I have is that light on the far right that's a bit distracting. Were you just driving around, looking for something that would be a good picture?
Thanks for the comments all. supermonkey: I can appreciate the crop that you suggest, but there is something about the negative-ish space that I liked...I dunno. tatty: I usually stop down to f/5 or f/8 depending. Point lights look different based on how open your aperature is. My camera usually gets the metering pretty spot on in full frame metering. however, I always check and make sure I have the detail I want before I move. Furymouse: I am on a road trip, and I when I was in Salt Lake City, I knew I wanted to hit antelope island for a sunset. On the way back I saw the refineries and knew it would be a cool subject. Nick
dude these are amazing. i loved all of these, and the way you captured the birds. very nice. i am impressed for sure.
