Hey guys, I'm wondering, how well do computer hardware items go on flea bay? Reason I'm asking is that I've got a few items up for sale which I don't think will sell here. Just curious as to how well hardware sells. This includes watercooling kit, cases, PSU's etc. I've searched the items and the prices are about what I'd expect, but I have no idea how well they sell. Any input BT?
Do a search on eBay for items of the type you are interested in selling. Filter for completed listings only. Prices shown in green are sold items; proces shown in red failed to attract any bids. This should give you an idea.
Older motherboards tend to go for a lot more, I saw a P5Q Pro Deluxe 775 go for £85 on there not including postage whereas your talking about £50inc here. Although generally older processors especially and processors in general along with ram seem to go for lesser prices and are hard to shift. I couldn't tell you about your type of kit just start watching some items the same or similar to yours and see how it goes.
Some things tend to sell pretty well there. Actually some things sell too well. By that I mean I've seen sellers ripping customers off with very high prices. For example, back when the 4770 came out I got it for like £80 including postage from CCL. But on Ebay there was a seller selling them for a £130. I informed him that his prices were high and that he might want to lower them if he actually wanted to sell anything. He replied..scary thing was he had already sold several at that price. Some buyers just have no clue..
How about over RRP? GTX 480 Was linked to that a few weeks ago, Unsurprisingly, none have sold since the last time i looked. Sam
It depends what it is I think. I'm not sure true enthusiast (watercooling for instance) items tend to sell that well, and are better suited to Bit-tech. On the other hand, graphics cards, more basic motherboards, high end CPUs and PSUs tend to go well. I recently sold an OEM, no warranty ATI branded 5970 on there. Started at £250 with a £300 buy-it-now, and it sold within 15 minutes. The guy hadn't even realised that I was offering free postage if he bought it now. I was especially pleased, as I'd bought it for £260 posted the week before, and that was over the odds I felt. I'm not sure high-end motherboards go that well though. I bought a Rampage III Formula for £150 the other day, and it looks mint, comes with all the accessories and so on. I'm pretty sure it could have commanded that kind of money on here or O... too.
People assume because somethings on ebay thats the cheapest they'll get it...plus they get hooked into bidding for something. I've noticed myself going too far on occasion, now I have an absolute upper limit which gets entered 20 seconds before the end of the auction
