Was out at 7am chasing the contents of our recycling bin (collection today) along our street. Not everyone behaving sensibly though - someone's bottles rolled onto a neighbours front lawn. she came out & just rolled the bottles into the road! My wife & I went over & picked them all up, filled 2 carrier bags & will take them to the bottle bank later on as the collection has taken place already. Been out on the roads, Alva & half of our town have no power, trees across roads & power lines. Glenochil prison also out of power. Seems like it's starting to calm down a bit now.
Was coming in from work at 4 AM this morning, carrying tools to the workshop from the car and was barely able to stay upright. Winds were blowing at 85-90mph here last night. I took one armful in, then gave up. I'm amazed there aren't more ridge tiles off and debris blowing around today. I've been out on calls this morning and seen several large branches broken off trees and a couple of whole trees uprooted though. Mother nature is not to be messed with!
The wind was howling down the valley last night and absolutely battering the rain into our windows, it was loud enough to mistake it for hail lol I have a feeling there will be lots of things broken or missing when i walk to work later.
Has been windy as heck over here as well.. Some people have actually been without electricity for over a week now, which is bad news considering it's been under +5 C the whole time...
Went outside today and everything that could fall over had fallen over, though no nearby trees down. Lincolnshire doesn't usually get it this bad, it's rather exciting. Also, hurricane winds are ten times more amusing since the introduction of wheelie bins. They're lying all over the place, it's great.
Maybe get a snap tomorrow if it isn't cleaned up, it's right next to work. Went out for a cigarette break and decided to walk around the corner, try and get a look at the size of the place, then I noticed there were bricks all over the ground and it had police tape around the entrances and exits lol.
I seem to have slept through this i keep hearing people telling me how bad the weather is I have to go brave it tommorow as they say its going to be similiar Bah
