So I have narrowed it down to two bikes that Im looking at, I plan on getting both eventually but can only get one for now as my storage space is not unlimited (I already have to get rid of my GPz to get one more bike.) So I have to choose one over the other and getting rid of my Buell and getting both just wont do, price is less of a concern and motorcycles all get good mileage so that isnt a deciding factor either so Im looking for outside input to help me decide. So here is what Im looking at...

Kawasaki KLR 650, ugly, tough, and cheap. Its a bike I always wanted because then I can run over curbs, small animals, and rough stuff with wreckless abandon, lets just say that just because a bike will go on the street doesnt mean it will do so well offroad (I know this from experience) so this bike will combine both well enough that it can satisfy me well enough when Im not on a dirtbike.

BMW R1200 CLC, nice, smooth, and long ride comfort. I just like how this bike looks compared to other similar bikes, its cheaper than a RT and has quite a bit more wind protection along with heat up the wazoo, literally it has a heated seat and handgrips. If you have ever made a 4+ hour trip on a sportbike you know the pain I felt and I dont care for that too much, plus with a bike like this I dont have to worry about where I am going to bunjee a second duffel bag. Plus the girlfriend finds this one much more comfortable than the cushionless rear seat on my Buell.

So if anyone recommends one over the other just say what you think, I still cant make up my mind which one to go for.

I think you've already summed it up tbh, if you're going to be doing a lot of long journeys, go for the bmw, if you want something a bit more fun to play with, get the kawasaki.

Something about the bmw makes it appear very adult, looking at your birthdate in your profile, you might look a bit of a pillock unless you look old for your age.

Danger, risk and ride fun is where a bike comes in for me, I've always wondered if it's worth getting a car instead of an uber comfy bike.

nice choices allthough im inexperienced in offroaders the r1200 is new 2 me for touring, ive ridden the pan european st1100 and a bmw r1150rt. i dont know the avaliability in the usa of these bikes but i would recomend both of them. the st1100 is smooth silky and an absolute joy 2 ride the v4 engine, downside is that the exhaust has a tendancy 2 rot out which isnt cheap 2 replace and the engine can make you look at the clocks 2 see 120+mph. the bmw r1150rt is also a mile eater bike but is alot slower than the pan, which is a licence saver. the bmw r1150rt comes with alot of extras and alot more luggage space, but gears can be clunky, ground clearance 2 up is very low aswell. im in england and dont know if these bikes were released in the usa, but both bikes r amazing
