I'd pick Tammy Baldwin, she has experience, a consistently pro human voting record plus she is a lesbian... and we all know Trump would not be able to articulate a single argument if he was up against a lesbian as he would just permanently stun lock himself spouting nothing but ad hominem attacks.
So business as usual then. Unfortunately I don't see the US voting for anyone who even might be gay at a national level. There's just too many religious nutters.
So that's Buttigieg out too then. I mean we are where we are bc the us lost it's goddamned mind bc a black guy got elected and then couldn't bring itself to vote for a woman.
We should all be grateful that the attempt on Trumps life failed. Added. We need to get back to meritocracy, oh, and suitable age.
It should be a surprise that he's picked an even more unhinged right wing loony for VP, I honestly thought he'd go for someone more moderate to appeal to the swing voters.
That's the trouble. Trump himself doesn't give a flying one about anything other than Trump. He's been a racist shitbrain all his life, but in terms of policy he'll happily be a weather-vane for whichever nutjobs want to back him so long as it puts him in power. And the nutjobs are backing him.
The electoral college is the system they all run under. Trump won in 2016, Biden in 2020, The fantasy ticket it Whitmer/Shapiro as two young-ish popular governors of swing states that won their races handily in 2022. However the practical answer is Harris-XXXX (pick from Shapiro, Beshear, Cooper perhaps). She would face less of a fight to get the nomination and could inherit the campaign and it's funds as she is already part of it. Sure she's not popular but being the vice-president is tricky to make popular and the Biden team have been careful not to help her so as not to create an obvious successor. And she's a former prosecutor running against a convict. Worth a shot.
What many forget is that America's "Pilgrim Fathers" were religious nutters (They were Quakers - the ones who think Welsh Methodists are far too frivolous!)
True, they left blighty because of persecution. Not that they were being persecuted but because their ability to persecute was being clamped down on.
They weren't *all* religious nutters... ...some were criminals and or the familial embarrassments of the wealthy families of the day. 'Packed off to the colonies' didn't always mean Australia.
Just seen this news segment, reporting Crooks was identified as a person of interest and hour before the shooting, and that he was spotted on the roof by secret service 20mins prior to the shooting. *Breaks out the foil....
"Never attribute to malice conspiracy that which is adequately explained by incompetence" Hanlon 1980
Trumps team are so incompetent, they can't spot an obvious shooter and he can't even get assassinated right
