Fatboy, AS Math is easier than the A level course so a C grade student could easily do AS Maths.

Arien - The AS course is not easier, the first year of the A Level course is the same as the AS course, so it isnt easier, it is exactly the same. (Thats asuming doing the same modules, which in this case should be assumed correctly)

Well done everyone :) This thread brings back so many memories, seems like only yesterday when I went to school to pick up my GCSE results (was 7 years ago now :eeek:).

As for a-level maths, I'd say as long as you're interested in it you'll be fine. It is a big step up from GCSE level though (well was in my day) so you have to give it a little time. I was very lucky in being given a nice gentle intro to P1, did it a year early so got a whole year on one module (made doing further maths much easier).

for some subjects (eg art) the AS course makes it much harder because they've crammed more coursework in because of it
it still is a big step up, i got an A (close to A*) in GCSE and in my january AS exams i got a D, i've improved that alot now though to a B :D

edit/ all they did when they added the AS level in is add more exams, so its exactly the same, and in art the exams are coursework hence my statement above :)

Personally I thought AS math was wayyy harder - though supposedly it is only P1 ... i got A* at GCSE and a D for my P1 unit ... and according to my teacher EVERYONE resits P1 cos they do so bad at it ...
