I got stung on the tongue by a wasp once. I sounded like Ralf in the Simpsons when his tongue swells up for some reason I can't remember. Yesth mrsth krobbbopthle It was the first bite of my feast as well I want my 80p back wasp!
I've only ever been stung once, I was on my motorbike at the time, and copped for it on my neck, as I was riding. I thought someone had flicked a tab end at me at first, as it felt like I was being burned. It was cool to know that my emergency braking was up to par after though
When I was about 13, I thought it was a good idea to pelt a wasps nest with stones while I was about 25ft up a tree. I couldn't climb down fast enough. Thats probably why I don't like them too much...
When I used to work on the railways we used get a train detonator dirll a hole in the side and screw a banger fuse in and place in wasp nest and light and run like f**k lol.
I don't mind spiders and will pick them up, even big ones (60mm inc legs). I can deal with most bugs if I pick them up on my own terms. If a bunch fell on my head out off the blue I'd freak (I've never had this happen though) I try to move them carefully, I also try to let my kids see me do it so they know there is nothing to be scared off. Really bugs me when my wife starts jumping around because there is a spider. I just make sure the kids know there is notheing to be afraid off, wifey is a lost cause on that side of things.
Maybe I should rethink my policy of grabbing every spider I see with my fingers and throwing them out of the window...
^ your floor is a disgrace! I don't wanna know about those hairs... I too am arachnophobic, good to see some of you put them outside and don't kill them. I have a lot of plastic pint glasses and bits of cardboard dotted around for getting rid of them. Ours go in the greenhouse as it's warm, dry and FULL of flying things so they have no reason to come back to the house. I have this weird fascination with spiders though. They terrify me, but I have to look at them. Unsurprisingly there are some monsters in the greenhouse and I am forever going outside at night and shining a torch in to look at them. Haven't had many indoors yet this year, but it's normally September when they appear in hordes. I probably shouldn't say about the spider bite scars on my arm/shoulder, it happened in the UK and may freak some of you out...
Uh, that's not the floor guys. Spoiler My desk is just as bad Edit: Who wants to name my bathroom's resident spider?
It's interesting you say that about watching them. I used to be genuinely utterly terrified of them. I don't know if I was properly arachnophobic but I remember I was lying on the bed watching TV once and looked down and a huge one was scuttering past my arm, I just jumped up and started crying and legged it out and wouldn't go back into the room for two days. I was only 13 or so at the time but still. A few years later I caught one and put it in a big nescafe jar for a couple of days and just left it in the room and watched it a lot. I still don't like them but they don't scare the crap out of me anymore and can just trap them in a glass and throw them outside. Apparently they appear a lot in late aug/sept because it's mating season so all the males are running about looking for females. But yeah, you should tell us the story. I've already accepted there are bitey spiders in the UK! I've also had a few bite type marks on my body that I've put down to spiders in my sleep. Ew!
They are actually very un-antagonistic creatures, and will avoid confrontation if possible. I would much rather have a hornet flying around me than a wasp. Although I don't personally find either intimidating. Was having a BBQ a few months ago and my housemate took a swig of his beer can and felt something in it, he opened his mouth and grabbed it and it was A WASP, alive and well! Didn't sting him either!
Not pubic hairs but the number of hairs is terrible, I have way too much hair so it falls out all over the place. I too used to be scared of spiders but my real pet hate is flying insects so spiders are now my bros.
I am rather Archnophobic myself. I leave most rare and/or dangerous/nasty/hairy/over 2cm large spiders to the missus as well. She loves the bloody things. Though, through her part-time work at the snake park, I have handled a Tarantula before. Even though it creep me out no end,
