Is there a good alternative to itunes that will make my mps3 I buy ells where play on my itouch 2010 as one album and not single songs with the same album name. this is extremely annoying especially when you have album collections with 50 plus songs. I am pretty new to itunes. but I have tried to force itunes to set them all as one album and all it does is give them the same album name but when i search by album there all songs with the same name and not one album.
In itunes if you hold in contol (Ctrl) and select all the songs from the album, then right click to select 'Get Info' then go into options you can tick the box 'Part of a compilation' and that will sort your problem.
They are many alternatives to iTunes. If you don't have an iPod, then even more options are open. You always have Windows Media Player 12 (and I want to specifically mention version 12.. as the good version, the rest is crap) which is part and exclusive to Win7, or the excellent Zune software (http://www.zune.net/en-CA/products/software/default.htm). Zune software is what itunes tries to copy but fails at it. From the system to recommend you music artist based on what you listen, all the way to the social network. If you are in the U.K or U.S, you can also enjoy the Zune Pass. In teh U.S the service is 15$ US per month for unlimited music download and play on your Zune MP3 player, Windows Phone 7, XBox 360, or PC, and at the end of the month you have 10 song credit for you to get for free. These 10 songs are DRM free, no restrictions (other than what your country law imposes, of course), and can be played anywhere. I am in Canada, and don't have Zune Pass, but I still enjoy the software very music, and allowed me to find artists I never knew, and purchase them at an another store (Zune music store is for several countries.. not Canada... but Canada does have Music Videos, that we can purchase... I don't get it either). Zune is easy to use, can get all your album information on the net (unlike iTunes, no account or membership required), safe and secure, and very light in comparison to iTunes (no super computer required) And of course, like iTunes, you have playlists and podcast. How can anyone say no to such kick-ass interface: http://img.youtube.com/vi/35E4W6gU4I8/0.jpg http://www.winsupersite.com/content/content/128767/zune/zune4_008.jpg http://www.istartedsomething.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/zunemarketplace.jpg http://www.winsupersite.com/content/content/128767/zune/zune4_014.jpg;pvb8ea139fb70ca71e http://www.winsupersite.com/content/content/128767/zune/zune4_011.jpg;pve9c5351cdf9cc227
Cool will try this one after work today. BTW: I did try the some thing like this but choose rename and gave them all the same name, but that did not work.
As long as they share the album name (not album artist), if you choose compilation it will group them all together. I have used iTunes exclusively for about 5 years now and although it was dodgy when I started it has come on leaps and bounds. A lot of the haters (not all of them) just hate iTunes because they hate apple for no reason other than they hate apple.
the ppl that hate Apple like me some times is that Apple is great if you ONLY do what Apple allows you to do. IE best thing to do with the iPhone is Jailbreak it which is Legal in the USA now.... I Like the iTouch because it is a jack of all trades. (Note music is good but by no mean Audiophile quality)
No probs, once you get used to the way itunes work you will start to like it (I do anyway). It really is a perfect system for my needs.
Yup, I'll have to give Zune another +1. On the downside its just as heavy on resources as itunes. On the plus side, it does everything better and looks soooooooooooo good. It even has an alternative to the 'genius playlist', as well as a standard playlist function that doesn't need a custom script an make the music skip (as it does in itunes) It won't sync with your ipod, but all the same, try it.
