It seems that the impossible has happened. I saw it quickly on the digg frontpage that itunes was down (not the most reliable of sources, but all the confirmation I need) and it explains why none of the trailers would load in front row. I'm too lazy to look further, but it seems that your initial idea was right.
If your code doesn't work it might not have gotten scanned right at the store where you got it. It's possible.
My little brother couldn't get on over Christmas either, I bet there was quite a hit on their servers considering how many people will get iPods and iTunes vouchers aswell.
yeah excessive load on christmas eve & christmas day took the iTunes store down periodically for some people should be going good now
