OK, I upgraded to iTunes 7.3 today (without thinking!!!) and after it asked for a restart, I get the standard XP boot screen and then a black screen. I can get into safe mode but F*** all else.

    Anybody got any ideas?

In safe mode uninstall iTunes, then switch to Winamp or Foobar?

Is iTunes set to start up automatically? If it is, you could go and run msconfig in safe mode and disable it from starting up automatically, that might solve the issue.

In the end I removed the settings from the registry which let me restart normally and then reinstalled.

After trawling through loads of ipod related forums it would seem that itunes 7.3 has more problems. Messing up libraries and the like. Best to be avoided at the moment. Oh it borks PC and MAC

    Yeah, its kinda weird.
They've moved albums with numbers at the beginning of the titles to the end of the list (if you sort by album name) and the word "The" is now ignored when sorting by album to (which I generally don't like).
So for example the "8 Mile Soundtrack" should be at the beginning of my list, it's now at the end, and albums like "The Best of U2" and now found under B for "Best of U2, The" which although is the correct way to sort it, is most irritating.

Apparently it also installs an iPhone service, even if you don't have an iPhone. Yay for wasted resources imo.
