    Hi

Hoping you guys can help me out. I downgraded from Win Xp X64 OS down to regular Win XP Pro. When doing this I deleted all old partitions and created new ones. Now after successfully installing XP Pro I now get a dual boot menu come up. I'm not really up on all this stuff so can someone tell me how x64 is still around although I deleted everything? I assume it won't work if I choose that option but I would rather it doesn't come up at all and goes straight into XP PRO.

By the way, not being unfriendly but please don't question why I downgraded. I know it's not the normal thing to do but at the moment it was the best thing for me.

    Cheers

    Chris

Funny that, I had the same when I upgraded to XPP from XPH. I just went and took the line out of the bootloader, and turned it off, and all i good. the software isn't there, if you try and load, it should spit back in your face...

Edit C:\boot.ini and remove x64's line - it's hidden and read-only by default, however, so you'll have to change those before you can edit it.

    I third that :D

Just remove te last or the next-to-last line, and you'll be fine (the one that ends with something along the lines of "Windows XP Professional 64bit"

    Hi

Thanks for this. I was hoping that there would be a simple answer to this and you guys have provided that. I'll get on and change the boot.ini

    All the best
