Im not going mad - i think. Setup for sound is x-fi and z-5500's, sound is excellent but im able to hear the radio over the speakers - it sounds nuts, but its true. Its muffled and in the background - but so bleedin annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? what did you do about it?

Its on on the 6 chennel direct setting, but with the x-fi im not sure how else im going to get the sound to the speakers, grrrrrr

It's a ghost in the machine :D, If it's picking up radio signal's there's probably nothing you can do as they would be floating around you but i wouldn't of thought it would be able to but i could be wrong?

Check your cables, if they're unshielded that'll be why.

Haven't heard this problem for over 18 months though!

Ah.... Which cables are you thinking of? There's a 3-in-1 jobby that goes from the x-fi to the decoder that logitech supplied and then there are the speaker cables themselves - these are good quality thick copper ones.

the three in one jobby is most likely where it'll be getting interference

Definitely RF interference. There must be a fairly powerful AM transmitter close by, as usually it's AM signals that cause this kind of breakthrough. I diode is rectifying the signal somewhere, and causing audio breakthrough.

The best cure is to avoid very straight runs in your cables. They're acting as an antenna, so keep runs as short as possible.

Failing that, get some ferrite rings from Maplin or RS and wrap as many turns of the cables as you can around them. This acts as a RF choke (low pass filter) and filters out the RF frequencies.

I had the same problem with my X-530. It used to pick up random radio signals, but as I now live way messier, and have surrounded the subwoofer with random junk, I don't get any interference

Thanks - i'll give it a go. Do you know what is (ironically) the most annoying thing about this? I can't get decent reception on any of the radios in the house!!! :wallbash:

So you reckon i should just heap a load of random junk all over the sub? Hmmm, interesting, although i feel my wife may make some sort of upset kind of noise if it do that :nono:

Ehh.. I didn't encourage you to do it, just said what helped in my situation :hehe: I hear it comes from the cheap amps used in these Logitech speakers, and that they aren't protected enough.
