Had some family from a run of the mill Christian church stop by yesterday. They were dropping off the best flyers ever! It's for some gathering on April 17th (that's Easter, right? I was about to ask them but figured it'd open up a can of worms) but on the pack is the best artist's impression of Jesus! Between the beard, short hair, smug grin and odd arm positioning I can't help but burst into laughter every time I see it! Awesome flyer aside, I liked their method. No mention of joining anything, just coming to their event and seeing how their operate if you're interested. Only complaint is that they brought their kids (or perhaps grandkids). It's just a cheap ploy to appeal to families, I feel bad for the kids because you know they'd rather be home or playing with their friends, it's presently spring break for local elementary schools.
Some kids in families like that actually get into it. You could argue that they're not being given the choice they deserve, that they're indoctrinated, but if they're happier for it it's a tough call to say it's a bad thing. I couldn't find it on youtube, so I had to just quote it from the episode.
