I've always said, If I had plenty of time/money I'd have a huge BBQ in a huge garden, and I'd have one of these cooling the booze
Jet powered beer cooler WOW someone had there thinking cap on that day. I especially like the turbo he has connected to it. I gotta have one of those.
Its the turbo that acctually causes it to be a jet, thats the basic principle (unless you're building a pulsejet) Basically the exaust gas spins the turbo, which in turn compresses more air into the chamer, which in turn turns the turbo quicker... as long as you can keep the fuel pumping you can run a turbo up to crazy RPM before it blows, 200,000 rpm isn't unachievable ~3516 revolutions PER SECOND!
I would think a fridge in the shed would be a little more cost affective. I still think the contraption is pretty cool. If I had that kind of time and the brain power to invent I would probably waist my time doing the same thing.
Yeah i guess the point of it is mainly just for the sake of saying "OMG youll never guess what i made". Kudos to him for actually going through with it! [OT]Oh, and Dannyqball, Youve spelt the word "DREMEL" wrong in your sig. Twice. `P2D
[OT]Oh, and Dannyqball, Youve spelt the word "DREMEL" wrong in your sig. Twice. `P2D[/QUOTE] Thanks for pointing that out. Is this better?
Lets not forget that fridges take a lot longer to cool beer to that temperature than his cooler. Absolute excellent work!
I'm not saying it's not cool, it's a VERY COOL MOD. All I'm saying is if you have a fridge in your shop you can store a ton of beer and it will always be cold. Buy it cold and keep it cold. mmmmm now I'm in the mood for a really COLD BEER.
"Luckily I don't own a car. If I ever do get a car it will be something to tinker with and be small, old and British. Just like my mum." -great quote...cool mod...beer...
its actually all bs. the only thing that is cooling the beer is the gas tank. when glas flows out quickly it gets cold. you know those cans of air that shoot frozen of when you hold them upside down, the can itself gets insanly cold, and gets frozen on the outside. he essentialy made a big version of that... but with a jet engine attatched for no apparent reason.
Yeah, it's gas leaving the tank cooling his beer. He could've gone with a compressed air tank, and a compressor to refill it now and then, and acheived the same results.
He should try a bigger turbocharger (from a turbodiesel truck engine maybe?) to see if he can get the beer into the minuses
