I'm currently working for a temp agency, and I've been working at a call centre for the last month with the temp agency - working as a group of 2 with another girl.

Today she walked out of work, and said she wasnt coming back. Work gave me a key and a key to the desk.

Now do I wait for a bit and ask for a permanent job, or do I stay with the agency and have the security that if they sack me I can get a job instantly?

However, the payrate would stay exactly the same.

What would you do in the situation?

Conveniently for me the place im at is only a 5 min drive.. or a 15 min walk...

What other benefits would you get of being made permanet? Stocks / pension / holiday etc? When I worked in a similar situation permenant staff got better benefits but the same pay. Depends if you see a future there.

They are probably paying the agency at least 10 or 11 pound per hour, maybe more.

There is probably a buy-out clause with the agency that says the company will need to give them a lump sum if they want to employ you directly.

I think it would be out of the order if the agency held a grudge about you wanting a permanent contract.

I still think they might be liable to pay a fee. Best way is to talk to the HR dept where you work.
