Over the past year my joints everywhere seem to click a lot more than before, and joints that never clicked before now click. If I bend my back, my spine etc will click, if I bend forward, it will do the same, my left knee toughens up and I have to kick it out in order to unclick my knee, all my fingers can now click and so can my toes, also my neck has started to click when I move it, it's seriously getting quite bad to be honest. I've been taking vitamins/cod oil for about 4 weeks now, and it hasn't improved at all. Also I've started Core Stability Stretches etc, so hopefully they will work a little. Been to the Doc about my knee before but they said just excersise, but I already do that a lot. What do you think I should do about it?
I seem to remember it's a CO2 buildup within the cartilage. There was a study that was published a while ago though - although it sounds nasty, it doesn't actually lead to any health problems, unlike the urban myth that it gave you arthritis. It sounds daft, but the best way to try and stop it happening is trying not to do it for as long as possible - with your back and knees it's not always possible, but things like toes and fingers aren't too bad.
air in the joints is what causes the cracking noise. I dont know what would cause it to get worse over time, but exercise is usually a good cure for just about eveything. I would bet the doctor is right. even though i have had some bad experinces where they dont look deep enough into something to actually find what is really wrong with me. Like when I had strep throat and had to goto the hospital because it was so bad and they admitted me for dehydration. anyway, how physically fit are you? I know its a crappy time of year but maybe getting out of the house and going for a jog every day will help out.
Well as my treadmill broke a few weeks back, I've started going out for a runs, took today off though as me calves are killing me.
May i suggest you stretch fully AFTER running then? No point stretching when you body is cold. None at all.
Yeah, but I already do that Although stretching before a run is a must also, otherwise your legs really do get a beating after.
