Right this is a joint log between frodo and me. since going to i29 and winning a shed load of goodies we had to put them to some form of use. (i owned a shuttle but after some heat problems at the lan i needed a solution and frodo wanted a upgrade).so were contemplating building three pimped out lian li v300 gaming rigs... Min1MeX1(red), Min1MeX2(green) & Min1MeX3(white)

if anyone has seen the insides of a v300 they will know this is no easy pickings as there very small, and 9" cards will not fit with out some modding. :dremel: These will also be run on high end air cooling , but water might show a apearence later in the log, as we both have seen our fair share of water cooled rigs. and have seen our fair share of there problems and empty wallets too.

    so.

    the specs.

As seen in the pics, it houses uATX mobo and a standard sized PSU so I'd say it's front panel is about 27 x 27 cm square and it's... lets say 34 cm deep. This is just a guess according to the pics... :worried:

    ^ as it arrived

    ^ side shot

    ^ back shot

    ^ mobo install 1

^ stock cooler with a 120mm fan to keep the rest of teh mobo a bit cool

    ^ the rather nice x-fi i won :D

^ after wiring... well it was neat until i had to then rip it to parts because it wouldnt boot!

    and today

^ fitted the zalman from my ah1 - keeps it so much cooler (and quieter :D)

    ^ bit messy!

^ still looks damn nice, just need to sort out some way of making the front of the dvdrw look nicer

^ on the floor oww yeah :D

^ my desks a bit messy now though... ideally id like to move the v300 up onto my desk just for the fact it'll look nicer on my desk!

so thats it for now, but ive got quite a few plans for this atm... just need to sort out some time to do em!

Who said lan gaming doesn't pay!!!

Both looking good so far, but I'd like to see some ducting for air flow and a low noice cooler fitted on that noisy X1900XT ;)

My stock fan used to speed up all the time on my X1800XT :( and that's when AS5 had been applied!

Soon sorted that out with a Accelero X2 though, but I don't think one would fit in your case.. shame really.

    ...why wouldnt it? heh

i think you'll be suprised as to how much room there really is in these cases, they look cramped, but there actually quite roomy!

the fan on my x1900xt only spins up whenever my heatings on full blast and im playing a game for a real long time... but even then it rarely does it!

i plan on getting the zalman v900 gpu cooler, just for the fact that then it matchs my cpu block!

Has that Lian-Li got 5.25" and 3.5" bays on both sides?

    unfortuneatly theyre shared

but yes, it has openings for both on both sides, so you can have 2 dvd drives (or whatever you like) and an fdd on either side, as in you cant have 6 drives in total, otherwise the case would have to be quite a bit wider!

i like the design myself, as it leaves alot of space for wiring and other stuff.
