Not really a mod gone wrong, but basic troubleshooting... At my job some time ago, we got in a clients' AT PC that wouldn't turn on. We determined teh power supply to be the problem, and proceeded to swap it out. We didn't check which wires went to which poles on the switch though.... So, when hooking up the new PS, we did the only reasonable thing.... We guessed... Got it all hooked up, grabbed a power cord and plugged it in, and immediatly all the lights in the room dimmed way down (flourescents no less!), and all the PCs went out. Mind you, we were a small company at the time, and the work area for us techie people was the same room as the phone support people... Yanked the power cord out of the PC right away, luckily no breakers popped. Figured out what we did wrong, reconnected the power switch, and went on about the rest of our day... Power supply still worked too, so we took the system back to the client, and never told them anything.... Jason A.
at least i learned @ skool that the black wires need to b next to eitchother but hey skool only has pieces of **** on the tables
I'm suprised the switch still worked. I guess because you pulled the cord rather than pushing the button again the contacts didn't arc and melt. It always gets the heart going when stuff like that happens.
Heart going nothing, I think mine came to a complete halt.... Luckily I haven't had anything that bad in a long time.... Jason A.
