Our family just adopted another dog last night. We do not know what type she is, but supposedly only 6 months old. She is well trained and very lovable. We do not have a name finalized for her yet. We have narrowed it down to: Corona Stella Banfi Applesause Snickers Porter. Any thoughts about these or suggestions on a name would be great. Our kids definitley want her named now. And if you have any thoughts on what type of dog she is it would be greatly appreciated (she is a mix, but don't know with what, maybe beagle? German Shepherd? some type of hound (due to ears)?) Here she is: We also have another dog that is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever/German Shepherd Mix. We adopted him last January and is now 18 months old. His name is Guiness because he reminded my wife and I about Guiness: Balck, slightly brown and stout. Here he is: Thanks for checking them out.
She's definately not a german shepard, same colouring, but definately not more then that. As for name, name her after a Stout or Ale. Bombardier.
To be honest your new dog looks more like guiness if you imagine her lying on her back with the black body and creamy head. Maybe you should call her upside-down guiness.
In the UK you'd be classed as a chav for naming your dog after drinks Don't bother naming it for a week or so, until you get to know her character - I did that with my last dog, she ended up being called Dusty, as she would roll in the dust Also don't forget that it has to be something that you're comfortable shouting out loud in the park, you don't want people looking at you strangely. Longer names tend to get shortened over time, so applesauce will either end up as apple or sauce. If you really want to stick with your original theme, pick something that is linked to Guinness. Black Velvet is a mixture of Guinness and champagne/sparkling wine, one of the best foods to eat with Guinness is chocolate, so pick a name there - but go for a decent brand, such as Lindt . Murphy's is the second most popular stout etc.
Name it after another animal that it is clearly not. Goldish, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Chimpanzee...anything that isn't dog related. Just for kicks and giggles
call her Bit tech (because she's a bit of this and a bit of that) or Heinz because she could be one of about 57 Varieties.
I agree that you should wait a while, if the kids need to use a name then that could become her "middle name". My grandad's dog was called whatever the Urdu word for cat is. lol, that'd become "bitty" which may bring giggles to Little Britain viewers.
We looked at other beer types and brands, but most didn't make the cut. I know the ones that did don't really represent her coloring, but more of her style. Corona because she is pretty laid back and wants to chill. We had Sierra (for Sierra Nevada), but it just doesn't fit her. My wife liked Stella for Stella Artois. Banfi is for the only wine I like (Centine Banfi). I'm not sure if we are going to stick with the beer theme or not, but will let you know what we decide. Thanks for all the input so far.
i'd be all cynical/ironic and call it Dog. or be really geeky and call it Typo just because i quite like literal names.
I reckon you can be fairly sure she is some sort of black lab cross..i would take a poke at a black lab cross beagle, maybe fox hound.
Daschunds, dobermans and rottwieilers have that rype of colouring. Obviously not a daschund or she would be shorter - although they do have ears like that.
